The Honourable Carole Conrad (Chair)
The Honourable Carole Conrad (née Smallwood) was born and raised in Irma, Alberta, and currently resides in Calgary. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law from the University of Alberta in 1967. She was called to the Alberta Bar in 1968 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1980. Justice Conrad practiced general law in Calgary until her appointment to the Court of Queen's Bench in 1986. She was appointed to the Court of Appeal of Alberta in 1992. As a lawyer she was active in the matrimonial and labour law subsections of the Alberta Bar and served on the board of the Legal Aid Society.
Justice Conrad is currently a member of the courts of appeal of Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. She is also a deputy judge of the Northwest Territories and Yukon.
Mr. Ed Eggerer (Member)
It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of Mr. Ed Eggerer. Mr. Eggerer had worked in real estate for 34 years in Airdrie, Alberta, and was a returning officer for Elections Canada for 33 years. He was actively involved in 10 Canadian federal elections and one referendum and served as a United Nations election observer in Cambodia in 1993. Mr. Eggerer also served as President of the Airdrie Rotary Club, Chairman of the Calgary Stampede Band Management Committee, Director of the Bethany Care Centre in Airdrie, was a commissioner for oaths in Alberta, and was recently presented with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his exemplary contributions to his community. We thank Ed for his commitment, knowledge and wisdom, and for being a part of our lives. He will be deeply missed.
Ms. Donna Wilson (Member)
Ms. Donna Wilson is an expert practitioner of electoral administration. She began her work with Elections Canada in 1986 as an assistant returning officer and has since administered eight federal elections, one provincial election, one referendum and a judicial recount in the Edmonton area. She assisted in the 1994 South African general election, that country's first post-apartheid election. Ms. Wilson is presently a returning officer with Elections Canada in Edmonton.
